To encourage and promote responsible use and recreational activities within the countryside.

There can be a shared benefit for all parties when visitors make responsible and educated decisions while enjoying our precious countryside. Benefits can be provided to our natural habitats, our local and national economies and on a personal level to our well-being and general health.  One part of a visitor’s stay is their choice of accommodation, each option available has its pros and cons but in summary, the following can be said:

Smaller scale, lower impact caravan and camper options help with the responsible use of the countryside land, this compared to more impactful permanent buildings and intensive development work to accommodate overnight stay for visitors.

Caravan and campervan accommodation can also elevate the strain on local housing stock, this can be vastly consumed by low occupancy Air B&B type accommodation, an issue prevalent in some popular tourist areas.

Taking this all one step further, glamping accommodation provides the benefits of all of the above plus offers the opportunity to travel to the countryside by low carbon means with no need for a vehicle, further reducing any negative impacts from visiting the countryside.

Help and assist farmers and landowners to responsibly diversify their operations.

Farmers face some of the most challenging business conditions that exist with in a modern economy. From fluctuating market prices, unpredictable weather patterns, pests and diseases affecting crops or livestock, labour shortages, rising input costs, environmental regulations, and pressures to adopt sustainable farming practices, to name a few.

At the same time, their success and survival is critical to everybody that lives within our borders and crucial for nature’s recovery path going forward.

Farmers provide food security and help feed the nation. They provide a large national economic contribution and a positive local community contribution. At the same time, they are responsible for the environmental stewardship and landscape preservation of the large swathes of land that they manage.

Helping farmers and landowners to diversify into low-impact accommodation options, adds to their long-term financial security and is a helpful step towards driving sustainable economic growth in smaller rural communities.

Increase the attractiveness of staycations as an alternative to traveling abroad.

The land within our borders is undeniably some of the most stunning in the world and we need to shout about it more!  Choosing to take a holiday here without traveling abroad by boat, train or plane, helps tackle the climate change challenge and wider environmental hazards and threats that exist for the planet as a whole.

We believe a wide range of smaller secluded locations and higher quality accommodation options is best to serve & highlight what this country has to offer.  Adding to this a message about the wider benefits of choosing a local stay, will increase the attractiveness of a UK staycation and provide a boost to all the objectives we look to achieve.

Promote the natural mental and physical healing qualities of the countryside.

There are many enjoyable, low-impact activities available in our stunning landscapes, from walking, biking, hiking, climbing and caving to name a few.

Many of these activities offer both physical and mental benefits and a nature-based solution to the challenges we all face, to stay both physically and mentally fit. This is one of the reasons why we like to support sites close to recreational outdoor activities and facilities.

We believe the more people that feel a connection to the countryside, the more their daily choices will look to protect it. The more physical and mental benefits people experience the more they will advocate to others its value. This will in the long term, help to conserve the beauty of the countryside for future generations.
